Steven Bartlett’s Flight Studio, which is part of his holding group Flight Group has appointed Rik Ubhi as head of publishing at Flight Books.
Flight Books is the new publishing venture launched by Bartlett’s Flight Studio, in collaboration with Ebury Publishing.
Rik Ubhi, most recently the founding publisher of Heligo Books – Bonnier Books’ business, big ideas and smart-thinking imprint – joined the company in September to spearhead the launch and development of Flight Books.
Ubhi has more than a decade of publishing experience, and previously he worked at Simon & Schuster UK as marketing manager, at Zed Books as co-owner and director, and at Bonnier Books as editorial director.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Freeman of the Stationers’ Company and is frequently asked to speak on developments within the industry.
At Flight Books, Ubhi reports to Georgie Holt, c.e.o. and co-founder of Flight Studio. He is working on books across the range of self-development and self-improvement, health and wellness, business and biography, smart-thinking and big ideas.
Ubhi said: “It’s incredibly exciting to be able to leverage Flight’s cutting-edge, data-driven approach, alongside such a top-tier and talented team, in order to create and amplify content that enriches how readers experience the world.”
Holt said: “Rik’s deep understanding of the publishing landscape, combined with his forward-thinking mindset, makes him the perfect person to lead Flight Books. At Flight, we’re committed to pushing against and beyond traditional boundaries, and Rik’s passion for innovative approaches, for amplifying extraordinary voices and helping build bestsellers aligns perfectly with our mission.”
